Pastor Kirby Anthony
Written by r5church on Nov 29, 2011Pastor Kirby Anthony was born and raised in Rochester New York. At the age of 17, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and was radically transformed. Soon after his conversion he began attendi
ng Church of Love Faith Center where he would begin to experience a desire and hunger for a deep, personal relationship with the Lord.
Upon graduation from high school in June 1993, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Eisenhower, docked at Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, VA. While stationed in Norfolk, VA he became a member of a local, dynamic ministry where he would gain his foundation for ministry. He soon began serving in ministry where his passion for outreach and burden for helping people were quickly recognized. It was also at this ministry where he met his future wife, Tara Person.
After faithfully serving four years with the US Navy he was honorably discharged in August 1997. Ten months later he and Tara were married and his life abruptly changed as he was thrust into the role of father, husband and college student. He shares that, “Taking college courses as a husband and father was one of the greatest challenges of my life and while the information and learning I received was invaluable, what was equally significant was the character development that I experienced. Both played a major role in preparing me for ministry.” He would eventually go on to earn a Bachelors of Arts in Theology from Norfolk Theological Seminary and College and soon join the staff of his church, New Life Providence in VA beach, VA as an assistant pastor.
In 2006 Pastor Kirby began sensing that the Lord was leading him to plant a church in Charlotte, NC and a year later approached his Senior Pastor, Dan Backens with this thought. After much prayer, consideration, and a strong belief that it was the will of God, a plan was put in place to embark on this journey and in August 2010 Pastor Kirby and his family moved to Charlotte. Five months later in January 2011, R5Church was launched in the University City section of Charlotte.
“I am humbled and excited as I anticipate what the Lord is going to accomplish through the men and women of R5Church and I am honored to serve in this capacity. Let’s see what God does!” Pastor Kirby resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife Tara and their three children.

I absolutely love the Word on Wednesday line. I think it’s a very innovative way for people to receive inspiration and spiritual knowledge on Wednesdays. I often want to stretch the 7 minutes into an hour
. I thank God for the revelation He has given you with respect to His word. Keep up the great work. I look forward to next Wednesdays and many more Wednesdays to come!
